Five years ago, six partisan bunkers were restored in Krčahov, a side valley below Kraková hoľa. From Lúčky in Demänovská dolina, the ascent takes a place that breathes the turbulent history of the insurgent period, it takes about 40 to 50 minutes. The route is well marked and leads through mild terrain. You can expect a steep but not long climb until the end of the route to the bunkers themselves.
The bunkers in Krčahov are a national cultural monument. In the winter of 1944, 250 men were hiding there. On a steep slope, they dug pits into the ground, covered them with a simple wooden roof or just chickpeas. There were more makeshift shelters, their remains in the field still well visible. The authenticity of the whole area is given by the surrounding dense forest, but also by the preserved small objects, which are distributed around.
