Museum of Black Eagle L.Mikuláš

The historic museum building on the site of a former coaching inn, mentioned as early as the 17th century. The building primarily served as a hotel and catering facility. It was partially preserved until the 1970s. The Black Eagle Museum also served as a center of cultural life, the significance of which exceeded the borders of Liptovský Mikuláš. In 1830, the history of Slovak amateur theater began to be written here. Later, the building housed several associations, including the cultural and reading association "Větín". During the May Day demonstration in 1918, the first public document by which the Slovak nation openly subscribed to the right to self-determination and the idea of Czech-Slovak reciprocity sounded in front of its participants gathered in the courtyard of the Black Eagle. At present, the building houses a unique exhibition on the history of hunting, hunting and fishing in Liptov, and numerous cultural and educational events take place here.
